20 November 2011 – I started a new venture. A quest to find creativity, a mission, an exercise, a small escape from reality, a moment of pure passion, an experiment, a student trying to share ideas in a new way, to express his feelings and start a conversation with new people. To date, I want to thank so many people. This small choice I’ve made on a Sunday Night, turned into a pretty fun venture. But unfortunate I’m not going to continue this venture on a daily basis. I’m a boy with dreams, a passion and I only have 24 hours a day to make dreams happen.

An Idea Everyday helped me on many levels, personal issues, professional issues, it was the best thing I could do. But I’m good now, I feel great. I’m ready for the next step. I want to run and train more, get the most out of me. I also want to put more time in a work, that takes more then one hour. I want to collaborate with friends, and for all of this I need more time and sleep.

I can proudly let you all know I’ve succeed in all my examinations in January. So another step closer to my degree. A big release of pressure for me. I hate to fail, and for a moment I thought I failed.

So please, let me go for a run.

I didn’t expected thousands and thousands of appreciations/likes/Reposts/Blog posts/Retweets, but you made it happen. Another proof the Art Community is the best community ever! Thank you!

I was just sitting here for a second, wondering how long it’s been since I’ve pulled a lie. I’m a very “right to the point” person, always telling the truth and it got to my attention, can I pull of a lie? Without a tell? But before I tested if I could, I just want to say. Before I go to a story. What about white lies? Because you don’t want to upset anyone, because it doesn’t really matter to know some details. Simple things. Where is the line?

Because I simple don’t see a line, as I said before. I always ask myself, why not tell the truth? About anything. If my mom ask me if I Drunk to much beer last night, I tell her the truth. I don’t see a reason why to lie. Did I do something bad, If so. I don’t want to extend my punishment any further and tell right away. I don’t understand how people can lie? Sometimes you hurt people, I know but I believe you can solve anything, it might take some time. But it will go over if you want.

Back to the fun Party story. I tested my official pokerface by playing poker with some friends. First I practiced online with some friends on Partypoker.com . Once I knew how and when to pull a bluf, I knew I it was time to pull the pokerface, bluf, lie in a real life poker tournament. Wow, to my surprise it was pretty hard in the beginning. Hiding your double aces, playing slow without that silly smile or over-acted “I have a bad hand, please raise me” face.

My first bluf failed dramatically, I folded after my first bullet. But once I knew everyone saw my failed bluf face, I turned it into my weapon. Act little bit silly, throw the most weird bet, fuck the rules, and after few wins, before I knew I was on the finale table. Then heads-up and before I knew I won the actual tournament. Thanks to some lucky hands and turns, but definitely thanks to my terrible pokerface. Nobody knew if I was actually bluffing or playing some nice hands. Unfortunate you can’t use this weapon online, but it’s a great way to learn some techniques.

What’s your pokerface? Are you a good lier? Let me know

I think this is genius! I wish I could come up with an idea like that! Mixing the most sexy girls, half naked with some interesting facts! It’s a cliché, an idea you hear every time, when someone ask you to brainstorm about “How can we sell this to men – Sex!” But only few people actually go for this idea. It’s so simple! But brilliant. Enjoy guys – Hopefully you remember a nice fact to share with the buddies on a saturday night!

I remember a teacher telling me I have to think before I do. Research and give an idea some time, to evolve into something much bigger and better. But I’ve never really get this. Every time I tried to research or think about an idea, I stumble across a list of pro’s and contra’s/do’s and don’ts. And most of the time, because I over think an idea, I already chose not to execute, because off some contra’s. I believe every designer knows where I’m talking about.

Stop thinking, stop writing down why you should not do something or even think about it. Give your idea a chance. I can formally say, almost all. If not all my successful projects, are the ones I didn’t prepared. Projects I started from scratch, because I had this feeling something good will come out of it. The famous “This is it” feeling! But there are some things you have to know, before you decide to use this technique. From my experience, here is a list of things you should know;

  • Don’t be afraid to fail
  • Since you didn’t prepared this project, it is highly possible that you forgot some important things or come across problems you have never battled before. See this as a good thing. Next time you know this and you will be prepared. It’s not because you fail once, you are a failure. Let’s celebrate a failed project and turn your next, into a succes!

  • Lower your expectations, relax
  • I don’t want to say you shouldn’t have any expectations, it’s important to believe in your project and know you will do anything to make this work. But if you start with sky-high expectations, you might lose your actual idea, what you actually wanted to do with this project. And when an idea becomes one blur in your mind, I assure you it will fail.

Take a deep breath, remind yourself why you started this project and why it gave you “This is it” feeling again! Try and recall that feeling once in a while. The best thing to do this, is to write it down! When you are relaxed and focussed, there is a bigger chance you will find the correct solution for your problems and make this project happen. And when it does, I assure you it’s all worth it.

  • Enjoy the moment
  • You launched your project, people start to interact and your project starts to live. When this happens, prepare yourself, because you just entered a new stage! The stage where you decide to learn from your mistakes or enjoy the moment, because from this moment on. Your project is growing and anything is possible. It’s up to you how you want your project to grow.

    Final
But at least give your ideas a chance, I hear a lot off people around me saying they have so many ideas, “BUT”… there is always a “but”. “I have no time”, “I don’t know how to do this”, “I don’t think I can do this”, etc. Try to kill your “but’s”. You live only once, you are who you are and if you want to give your ideas a chance, act and do what you want. If you don’t have time, make time. If you don’t know how to do something, learn it. Thinking you can’t do something, is not acceptable in my opinion. Just remind yourself what you want to achieve in live and work for it.

Do you over think your ideas? Or can you find yourself in this text. Let me know what you think in the comment section below!

    Thanks for reading,
    Bram

You have seen it before, when a mainstream artist collaborates on corporate projects and web design projects. “What’s going on?” Fact: Today everyone is a graphic designer! It’s about solving problems with colors and ideas. Style is something you have or not, at least that’s what I believe. You can learn what’s hip and trendy, but the great designers know these just by feeling and their style.

But not every artist is a graphic designer. Artists, in my opinion are the one who say, fuck you to the whole design community with all their rules and styles, and show them what they really think about it. But nice things happen when they accept their both weaknesses and collaborate.

Myself, I love to experiment. I prefer to be an artist, but today you have to accept the following fact: More you know = Better! That’s the reason why I do, or at least, try to do as many different things as possible. In my eyes there is no limitation in doing.

So yes, I collaborate on web design projects and corporate projects. It’s fun, it helps me explore new areas and it gives me a chance to get to know more about this, then reading a blogpost or two.

Here is a project I worked on with the Italian producer IRKO. As a producer and creative thinker himself, he accepted the fact I had to do my thing and I want to thank him to give me so much freedom! You can visit www.irko.it for the live version(The developer is still tweaking on the website).

Are you busy? Do you have problems organizing? Or is it hard to find a good journal or notebook? As a young creative myself, I love to have a clear view on what and when things happen. It’s hard to wake up and not know what the plan is for me. My head is pretty organized, but I’m sure it doesn’t hurt to use these smart tools to optimize my workflow!

That’s why I’m a big fan from the new Béhance Outfitter, their products are clean and easy to use. And on top of that, they look amazing! It’s hard to find a journal these days, which has a clean design and does his job. Actual tools that remind you and organize your daily tasks. Keep you on the top of the game and make your ideas happen. You want to start a project right, then take your ideas serious and give them a place!

If you’re already using the Action products, you know where I’m talking about. If you have no experience with the action products, yet. I want to remind you the Holidays are coming, I placed this in my top 5 Christmiss gift list! I’m just saying. ;-)

I’ve mentioned it before, I love motivational speeches! I’m going to school by bus, a two hour drive in most cases. For me it’s a terrifying idea, to do nothing and waste hours a day, sitting on the bus. So instead I bought some books, for example the best seller “How To win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. (Find book on amazon).

But next to reading books, I listen to speeches on my iPod, think about it and learn them. So I won’t forget them. And on my list of speeches, Eric Thomas is definitely on it. A small, but famous part from his speech “Secret To Succes” is about a person who really wants to become successful and meets a guru. I’ve embed the video in this post, so you are free to listen to the speech. I recommend it to everyone! And maybe I’ve shared some useful content for a change! Enjoy and thanks for reading!
